REACT Waste and Recycling Update for COVID-19
Given the recent provincial declaration of a state of emergency in the Province of Saskatchewan, REACT Waste Management is taking additional action to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. During this time, we have taken steps to ensure that this will not impact the services that we provide, it will only change how we do business.
For the safety of our employees and the public, our office will be closed to the public until further notice. REACT staff will maintain regular office hours. If you require assistance, please call us at (306) 682-1955 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our best to assist you while maintaining appropriate COVID-19 protocol. Landfills and transfer stations will remain open. If you go to one of our landfills or transfer stations, practice physical distancing and carefully follow the directions given to you by the gate attendant. We are asking that you bag all household waste. Tie the bag tightly before putting it into your wheeled cart or before placing it on the curb for tag-a-bag pickup. This includes taking household waste to the landfill or transfer stations.
REACT is aware that individuals are working from their homes or practicing physical distancing by staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many may be keeping busy by cleaning and or doing renovation jobs around their homes – which has made for more waste and recycling. People are asked to carefully sort their recycling to put into the depot bins to protect REACT employees that must handle the product, which could potentially be contaminated. Do not put soiled tissues or paper towels used for cleaning or any other contaminated material into the recycle bins, put them into your household waste.
Please do not overfill the recycling bins at recycle centres or leave any type of recycling outside of the bins – the product will become litter. It would be greatly appreciated if people would take their recycling home if the bins are full and bring it back once REACT has emptied the bins. If you are using an automated curbside recycling cart, please make sure it contains only recyclables and no garbage. Do not place waste or recycling on top or beside the cart. Keep the lid fully closed on your recycling or waste cart or it will not be picked up. Have your cart or tag-a-bag garbage set out the street by 7 a.m. on your designated pickup day to ensure pickup.
REACT is trying very hard to continue to provide current services with limited staff; however, as circumstances continue to evolve due to COVID-19, it may be necessary to adjust available services without notice. Please continue to handle your waste and recycling with the utmost respect and consideration for the REACT employees that handle it – their health and safety is REACT's top priority.
We are all in this together. REACT will continue to do our part, but we need your help to make it happen. We count on you to help keep our staff healthy, as much as you count on us to remove your garbage and recycling! So, please stay safe, stay healthy and let’s take care of each other! Thank you for your co-operation during these challenging times!
